Woman accuses WB Governor of molestation ahead of PM's visit
In a significant triumph against cybercrime, Jamtara Police has successfully apprehended 10 notorious cyber criminals caught in the act of committing cyber offenses. The arrests were made in Bagjodi and Pipla villages of the Mihijam police station area, showcasing a shift in the geographical and operational dynamics of these criminals.
The successful operation led to the recovery of 20 mobile phones, 31 SIM cards, a Wi-Fi dongle, a laptop, and two bikes. The announcement was made by SP Animesh Naithani during a press conference held at the Jamtara Cyber Crime Police Station.
SP Naithani revealed that the police received confidential information about cyber criminals gathering in Bagjodi and Pipla villages, engaging in phishing activities. Acting on this information, a swift response team, led by Cyber DSP Manjrul Hoda, conducted a raid in the Mihijam police station area.
The arrested individuals had altered their modus operandi, now employing a tactic of sending QR codes to lure victims into cyber fraud, promising cashback on pay phones. The criminals targeted small amounts to avoid detection, having cheated 59 individuals according to recovered database information. SP Naithani urged victims to come forward and file complaints to ensure maximum punishment for the perpetrators.
